Snake Hacks Interviews Ben Cole From Ben Cole Reptiles
Ben Cole from Ben Cole Reptiles (Florida) took the time to sit down with me and discuss his vast experience in the reptile industry. Ben owns a farm raising many species of snakes, lizards, turtles, and tortoises. It was great to speak with him and discuss how he made it big in the reptile industry.
Perhaps you can too!
Interview with Ben Cole
I first met Ben Cole in Gainesville, Florida around 2008 or 2009. He managed a reptile store that desperately needed his help due to the poor management that preceded him. Not only that, they had competition with another reptile store less than a mile away.
Within no time Ben got the shop running like a clock and the animals were healthy and being kept at the right temperatures. Unfortunately, Ben eventually left the shop to pursue another opportunity that presented itself. The pet shop he left languished and eventually went out of business leaving only one reptile store in Gainesville which is the case to this day.
My memories of Ben
What I remember about Ben during his years working at the reptile shop in Gainesville was his fascinating and intriguing knowledge of how the reptile industry ran. I would stay at the shop for hours just listening to his experiences. Crowds also tend to gather to hear him talk at the Repticon shows he frequents around Florida. Ben also travels out-of-state for large reptile expos as well.
If you were to meet Ben at a Florida Repticon you might believe he only deals with ball pythons. Nothing is further from the truth. Ben deals with many exotic species of snakes, lizards, turtles, and tortoises but has the connections to quickly export them. Yes, Ben Cole is a big breeder of ball pythons but also has many other projects in the works at his farm.

He explains how he did it and with knowledge and determination, you can also achieve your dreams. It’s great to work with something you love and have a passion for and not a job you hate.
We also talk about the unfortunate situation reptile keepers in Florida are facing due to strict regulations and new laws that are currently in the works. Florida reptile owners should consider joining USArk and get involved. The future of reptile keepers in Florida depends on it.
